This week we have been singing about the patterns on our socks. The children have looked at many shapes and were able to identify most. Thank you for sending in the socks, I intend to keep them displayed for a while so please ask for them if you are wanting them back soon.
The children have really settled into our routines and are beginning to understand how we access learning independently. This skill can take a while but we are supporting them as they learn how to play and use resources to help them learn.
The sun has been very kind to us this week but I am not sure how long it will last. Could you please start to bring in welly boots with names on so that we can still go outside if the weather changes.
I have changed how we manage our water bottles in the unit. I would like you to leave your child's bottle on the green table outside the nursery entrance. The children will be able to access these throughout the day. Please make sure your child's bottle is clearly labelled.
Next week we are going to be using numbers from 0 to 10 in lots of different ways.

Have a great weekend.

The children have enjoyed the story of the Gingerbread Man and they definitely enjoyed making and eating them too. We have also been listening to the story of Little Red Riding Hood. The children have learnt some songs about the big bad wolf. Next week we are going to focus on The Three Little Pigs. I'm afraid that bad wolf gets about a bit!
Some of the reception children have been singing a song about patterns so we are going to do the same. Could you please bring in a patterned sock or socks if you have any. They can be adult or child size. We are going to display them on a washing line and look at all the different patterns.
I hope you have all seen your child's Learning journey and have had time to read our comments. Please could you make sure these are all returned by Monday so that we can put your child's observations in them. These books are available for you to look at daily. They are located in a box outside the reception classroom door.
Have a great weekend.

The children are settling very well into their new environment and we have been very busy getting to know each other. We are going to be spending time making a new outdoor area so that the children can design and build with wood and other building materials. If you have anything you think we could use from home please bring it in.. We have also spent time looking and recognising our names and our friends names.
Next week we are going to be sharing the story of the Gingerbread Man so we are going to make gingerbread biscuits next week.

I will be sending your  child's Learning Journal home for you to complete. I have put a letter inside to explain what we would like you to do. Below is a copy.

We have completed your child’s settling in forms in the front of their Learning Journals. Could you please complete the parent’s section so that we can see how you feel your child is settling. We would also like you to put something in the book that your child has done at home. This can be a picture, an outing or just a photograph. Please can you put it on the first available page and limit it to one side as we need to use these books to record your child’s journey through Foundation. We would like this to be your child’s work and ideas so don’t be tempted to create your own little masterpieces!
Please speak to me if you have any concerns about your child settling in or any other issues.
Have a good weekend.
Mrs Robinson:)

Friday 7 September 2018

Welcome to our class blog. The children have settled really well and although there has been few tears they have manage to enjoy  their first day. I'm sure it has been harder for you all than it has been for the children.
We are going to be supporting the children over the next few weeks as they settle into their routines. Please speak to me if you have any concerns about anything.
Can you please make sure your child's uniform is  labelled with their names as we have 60 children all wearing the same clothes so it is very hard to find any missing items if they are not labelled.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs Robinson :)

I have not put any photographs on the blog today as I am waiting for some permission forms to be returned.
